The primary role of the Community Educational
Counsellor (CEC) is to support the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
students and their families.
The CEC provides support in a variety of ways.
- Pastoral
care (assist in building positive relationships)
- Improve
students wellbeing by providing a link between home and the school
- Facilitating
the growth of a positive cultural identity by organizing and conducting
cultural programs and assisting teaches
- Integrating
a positive cultural identity into a wider multicultural society
- Assist
with extra curricular and co-curricula activities for students and parents
- Working
with parents, students and teachers to resolve issues/concerns
- Assis
students in the transition from school to school; from school to work and from
school to further education
- Capacity
building
The overall aim is to assist all A & TSI students
to improve their academic outcomes and become more informed and active
citizens.
